Pharmacy technicians can:
Handle written or electronic prescription requests.
Fill bottles with prescribed medications, prepare and apply labels
Prepare directions and informational sheets/pamphlets
Handle payment processing
Resolve issues, concerns and customer complaints
Communicate with doctors for prescription refill authorizations
Resolve any issues with patients' insurance coverage
If you are interested in registering for the Pharmacy Technician program, you must:
Be at least 18 years old
Have a high school diploma or GED
Have no felony drug convictions or drug-related misdemeanors
Complete the application process
Pay the required deposit
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for pharmacy technicians was $33,950 in May 2019. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $24,120, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $49,130.
